Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy

In Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) the therapist guides the client into and through the emotional moments that define their sense of self and of others towards a new sense of balance competence and connection.  The therapist acts as a safe haven and a secure base for growth in every session.

In EFIT, we explore the emotions that underlie dysfunctional patterns in the client’s life and help order and validate them. As the emotions become more tolerable and manageable, the client comes to understand and make peace with the patterns that probably helped them survive or thrive as they matured in the world.  We identify blocks to the natural state of being in healthy connection and responsiveness to others.  As these blocks are understood, the client harnesses the power of these defensive blocks to transform them into resources to help the client find new ways to life more fully.
