Satir Therapy

“I want you to get excited about who you are, what you have, and what can still be for you. I want to inspire you to see that you can go far beyond where you are right now.” – Virginia Satir

The perspective of the world from the eyes of a child is very different from the perspective of an adult. Despite this, many of us go through our lives with old beliefs developed from when we were children. Satir Therapy offers the possibility of updating your old beliefs and moving towards a deeper recognition and acceptance of yourself and others.

Virginia Satir believed that human growth is natural and moving in a positive direction. The four main goals of Satir therapy are to help the client:

1) Raise Self Esteem;

2) Become a Choice Maker;

3) Become responsible; and

4) Become congruent.

The therapist helps the client explore painful patterns and positive possibilities by offering experiential processes that allow the client to experience the impact of a past event in the present. The client also experiences their own positive life energy in the present. The therapist helps the client reframe perceptions, generate possibilities, connect with their deeper yearnings and their life force.
